On Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September we will be celebrating the European Heritage Days, the most eagerly anticipated and well attended cultural event in Europe.

This year’s theme is Heritage and Education. Lessons for life.

The National Roman Museum is getting involved with a full calendar of events to be held on both days, including guided tours, educational activities, cultural activities and out-of-hours openings of spaces which are currently closed to the public due to the health emergency.

What’s more, on Saturday 26th, all four sites will be open from 19.45 to 22.30 at a special entry price of just 1 euro.

Saturday 26th September

• ArtMuseum. Educational activities for children with disabilities
  Baths of Diocletian, 10.00-11.30
  Workshop led by the Educational Service of the National Roman Museum in collaboration with the “L’abilità Onlus” organization.
  Maximum number of participants: 15 (the workshop will run with a minimum of 7 participants).

• Sculptural decorations of Roman residences in the Imperial Age
  Palazzo Massimo, 12.00
  A guided visit to the sculptural works on the first floor of the Museum, led by the Educational Service of the National Roman Museum.
  You can book at the ticket office on the same day. Maximum number of participants: 13.
• The Eastern side of Helicon
  Baths of Diocletian, 20.30
  “In the beginning, there was neither East nor West. In the beginning, there was Man who wondered, who asked himself questions”.These are the words of the greatest contemporary Arabic-speaking poet, Adonis, from Syria.  During our Eastern side of Helicon event, named after the Greek mountain, where, according to legend, the Muses and therefore poetic inspiration can be found, Isabella Vincentini will lead us through a poetic reading within a dialogue between the ancient civilizations of the Near East.

  To celebrate the European Heritage Days, some of the spaces currently closed due to the health emergency will be opened. These special openings can be found throughout the four sites of the National Roman Museum, in particular:
  Palazzo Altemps: ground floor, Engravings Gallery (second floor), Theatre
  Palazzo Massimo: first floor
  Terme di Diocleziano: second floor of the Museum of the Written Communication of the Romans, the Octagonal Hall
  Crypta Balbi: first floor, second floor and the Crypta portico
• Out-of-hours evening openings at a special price of 1 euro
